Dust is the real enemy
Airborne concrete and drywall dust gets into the paper path and onto the transfer components, and it shortens roller life dramatically. Two things help more than anything else: keep the machine in a closed section of the trailer away from the door, and schedule preventative maintenance on a much shorter interval than page count alone would suggest.
Tell us it is a job site when you order. We schedule those machines differently, and the maintenance is included in the rental rate either way.
Power
A floor-standing multifunction printer wants a dedicated 120 V, 20 A circuit. Sharing a circuit with a space heater, a coffee maker and a compressor produces brownouts that show up as random errors nobody can reproduce. If the trailer runs on a generator, confirm it is a clean sine wave supply and put the machine on a line-interactive UPS.
Connectivity
Many sites have no wired network. Specify a machine with wireless, or plan on a cellular router and a small switch. If neither is available, USB printing plus scan-to-USB works, but scan-to-email will not — and on a construction project, emailing marked-up drawings is usually the point.
Paper size and plan sets
Decide early whether you need full-size plan output. An 11 × 17 tabloid multifunction printer covers submittals, RFIs and half-size sets, and it is the right answer for most trailers. Full-size D and E sheets need a wide-format plotter, which is a different machine with its own power and space requirements.
If you need both, the common arrangement is a tabloid multifunction device for daily paperwork plus a plotter for issued sets.
Delivery to an active site
Tell us about access before the truck is dispatched: whether there is a dock or a lift gate is needed, whether the trailer has steps or a ramp, ground conditions after rain, and site check-in requirements. A 200 lb machine and a set of trailer steps is a problem best solved in advance.
Term
Match the rental to the schedule, then add a month. Construction schedules move, and extending is far easier than restarting. Our copier rentals run from 30 days with everything except paper included.
